Fuengirola Property for Sale - Fuengirola properties, Costa Del Sol, Spain

The town of Fuengirola is a genuine Spanish working town, as well as being one of the Costa del Sol 's foremost holiday resorts. The result is a dynamic centre of business and commerce, combined with the 7kms of Fuengirola's sandy beach, superb restaurants, nightlife, and plenty of family-geared entertainment.

Fuengirola attracts year-round visitors, appealing to Northern European retirees in the winter (anxious to save on their heating bills!), and families, including Spanish, during the summer months. When the beach palls, Fuengirola 's sweeping promenade is ideal for an evening paseo (stroll) and has been recently widened and landscaped with palm trees, flower beds and additional seating space. The adjacent port is relatively small and mainly used for recreational sailing. Due east from Fuengirola is the former fishing village of Los Boliches .

Although few of the fisherman's cottages remain, there is a friendly neighborhood feel about the warren of narrow backs-streets, with small, family-run shops and an abundance of local bars and restaurants.

Los Boliches flows seamlessly into Torreblanca and Carvahal seafront resorts, both with a healthy balance of Spanish and foreign residents.

Although Fuengirola is well known for its multi-storey modern apartments, the town has an historic flip-side. An 8th century Moorish castle dominates Fuengirola, and the Roman temple arch on the Paseo at Los Boliches is not some Disney-style folly, but discovered by divers relatively recently on the seabed.

The restaurant choice in town is legendary - and vast, with everything from Dot and Sid style 'chippies' to one of the finest nouvelle cuisine French restaurants on the coast - Patrick Bausier

Aside from the obvious water sports, Fuengirola is also an excellent base for golfers with La Cala, El Chaparral, Alhaurin, Lauro and Mijas Golf all less than a 30-minute drive away. Tennis players are similarly well served in Fuengirola. Lew Hoad's Campo de Tennis is one of the coast's longest-established and most popular tennis/social clubs for foreign residents.

Aside from Spanish state and private schools, St Anthony's College is a British run co-ed school that accepts students from 3-18 years. There is also the Swedish Escuela Sueca with children from 5-18 years.
