Buying Spanish property is an attractive proposition for several reasons, price, value for money, investment opportunities, standard of living, etc, but the Spanish weather has to be one of the most compelling reasons for someone to invest in a property in Spain . You can expect the weather to be hot in the Summer and fairly mild in the winter months.
From late May to the beginning of October, you are virtually guaranteed sunbathing weather. There is virtually no rain, refreshing ten second spells are not uncommon inland. On the Costa (coast), you can expect daily highs of around 38C and nightly lows of around 15C. In the Campo, (countryside), it can be as much as 10 degrees hotter than it is on the coast during the summer months. Whether you are on the Costa, or in the Campo, you can expect to lounge about in shorts until the wee small hours, for the majority of the summer months.
In the winter, you can expect a mixture of sunny winter days and overcast but warm days. On the Costa you can expect daily highs of around 22C and nightly lows of around 8C. In the campo, however, at times it can be up to 10 degrees cooler than on the coast. Rain starts to appear at the beginning of October, but it rarely rains for more than two days at a time. There are exceptions to these figures, as last January we spent New Year day sitting by the pool, in the small village of Bermejo , 40km inland from Malaga , in shorts and shades for the majority of the day!
